What is ‘mooting’? Who, how and why?
Whether you intend to pursue a career as a barrister or solicitor, advocacy and researching legal issues are key skills that need to be developed and demonstrated. Mooting is a mock court scenario where students pretend to be barristers arguing an appeal.
St Andrews has developed a bi-lateral partnership with the University of Edinburgh’s Mooting Society and this is a fantastic opportunity to watch a live moot taking place and pick up helpful hints on how to persuade that judge! This is a good way to meet law students and find out what studying law is really like.
We will be leaving St Andrews from outside the main bus station at 12:00 and will be back in St Andrews at 16:30 in time for our ‘Introduction to Law’ event with Ailsa Wilson QC, Ampersand Stables, Hazel Scott, Head of Infrastructure Legal, SSE and Stuart Waddell, Head of Legal Commercial, SSE.
